The company

Servi Doryl

It is no surprise that the region of Touraine, along the Loire River, well known for its beautiful Renaissance castles, and its large variety of wines and goat cheeses, gave birth to the largest manufacturer of cheese forms in the world.

In 1978, at the foot of Langeais’s castle, Mr. Lasalle founded SERVI, a company proposing plastic cheese forms to the local manufacturers of soft cheeses. The company was successful right from the start. Thanks to the fast growing plastics industry in the Loire Valley, SERVI was able to diversify its offer and bring new answers to all cheese maker’s requests.

Year after year Mr Lasalle developed a unique portfolio of block-moulds and trays, that brought considerable productivity improvements to the growing cheese industry, while maintaining the highest quality of the traditional cheeses.

A few years later, on the heights of Langeais, another passionate cheese equipment maker, Mr. Laurent, inspired by the success of SERVI, invented a process of pressing the cheese in a plastic mould, duplicating almost identically the familiar patterns obtained with the clothes traditionally used at that time. The DORYL micro-perforated pattern was born and the new company transformed in a few years the whole pressed cheese market, replacing the old wooden and stainless steel moulds by the DORYL plastic moulds.

Both companies based in Langeais, became undisputed references in their respective markets of soft cheese and pressed cheese and contributed to the development of the dairy market in France and in many countries of the world.

The sudden and unexpected death of the two founders Mr Lasalle and Mr. Laurent brought together the two companies in a unique entity with full expertise on all types of cheese moulds.
In 2009, SERVI DORYL became part of the ALPMA group, world leader of mechanization solutions for the cheese industry, which gave a new thrust to the company.

Today, SERVI DORYL is recognized for its high quality products and solutions for cheese moulding all over the world.
